Don’t call it The Bell Jar

Thin Skin by Emma Forrest
Cheri O’Teri once said during a SNL skit something to the effect of “You know it’s great literature when the cover’s hot pink.” The book deserves its hot pink cover and publication by MTV Books. That’s about all that needs to be said: the novel seemed like a drawn-out Christina Aquilera video. But two quotes made the book enjoyable.

“You know as well as I do that if you’re going to kill yourself, you’d better be beautiful or everyone will think you were just being a whiner” (61).

“‘She make God sound like a man rubbin’ up against you on a crowded subway’” (183).
